Referee Evaluation Policy

Journal of Management Archive (JoMA) uses a double-blind review system in the article review process. According to this system, the names of the referees are never shared with the authors and the names of the authors are never shared with the referees. The reason for using this system is to publish articles that will contribute to the field of management and organization by providing a quality and objective evaluation process.

Preliminary Evaluation Process

All manuscripts submitted to JoMA are first pre-evaluated by the Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Board. Manuscripts that do not comply with the scope and/or editorial guidelines of the journal are rejected without being taken to the referee process. Manuscripts that comply with the scope and editorial guidelines of the journal are subjected to preliminary evaluation by the Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Board in terms of originality, contribution to the literature, compliance with the principles of scientific research and publication ethics, plagiarism control and some other aspects. At this stage, the Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Board may request some revisions from the author(s).

Referee Evaluation Process

Manuscripts that successfully pass the preliminary evaluation process are sent to at least two referees determined by the Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Board. The number of referees can be increased by the Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Board when necessary. Referees are selected based on their areas of specialization.

The referees evaluate the manuscripts in terms of originality, methodology, contribution to the literature, presentation of findings, discussion of results, utilization of previous studies in the existing literature and some other aspects. Reviewers may accept or reject the manuscript or ask the authors to make major and/or minor reviews of the form and/or substance. For a manuscript to be accepted for publication, at least two referees must give a favorable opinion. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the manuscript is sent to a third referee. Ultimately, the opinion of the third referee is decisive. During the referee evaluation process, each referee is given 15 days. In case of need, additional time can be defined.

Referees make evaluations based on 15 multiple-choice questions along with explanations and/or review comments they will submit to the author(s) and editor. Relevant questions are evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = very poor, 5 = very good).

If reviews are requested at the end of the peer review process, authors are expected to respond within 15 days for minor corrections and within 30 days for major corrections. In case of need, additional time can be defined. However, in case of failure to return within the defined periods, the article will be removed from the process. Reviewers may request more than one correction for the same article.

Final Evaluation Process

For the manuscripts that successfully pass the referee evaluation process, a final decision is made by the Editor and/or the Editorial Advisory Board. Manuscripts accepted for publication at this stage are placed in the publication queue.

Note. Author(s) submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Management Archive are deemed to have accepted all these evaluation process and conditions.
