Submitted articles must be prepared using the template file found in the author guidelines section. All writing rules adopted by the Journal of Management Archive (JoMA) are preset in the template file. Therefore, an attempt has been made to offer authors a practical article preparation process.

JoMA adopts the writing and citation rules recommended by the American Psychological Association (APA) in all publication processes. Accordingly, APA 7 rules, the latest version of the relevant publication guide, must be taken into account in all manuscripts sent to JoMA.

General Layout

  • Submitted articles must be in Microsoft Word file type.
  • Submitted articles can be prepared in English or Turkish.
  • Submitted articles must have titles and abstracts in English and Turkish. However, for manuscripts prepared in Turkish, an extended English summary is required after acceptance.
  • Submitted articles must contain at least 4000 and a maximum of 10000 words.
  • Each margin should be 2cm.
  • The main title of the article should be written in 16 font size, bold, centered and the first letters in capital letters.
  • Abstract titles should be written in bold, centered, and with the first letters in capital letters. Article titles should be given in both languages immediately above these titles. This section, including keywords, should be written in 10-point font, single-spaced.
  • Starting from the introduction part, the text should be written justified, with 12 points, Times New Roman type, and 1.15 line spacing. Additionally, paragraph spacing should be 6pt before and after, and the carriage return indent should be 0.5 cm from the left.
  • All headings should be numbered (e.g. 1., 1.2., 1.2.1.), only the bibliography heading should be unnumbered.
  • In the bibliography, the bottom line of each work should start with a 0.5 cm indent from the left.

Title Page, Abstract, and Keywords

  • The article title should clearly cover the content of the study and be short and concise.
  • The name and surname, title, institutional information, country name, ORCID number, and e-mail addresses of the author(s) must be included.
  • The corresponding author must be stated.
  • The abstract must be exactly 200 words (±10). The number of words is not required in the abstract written in the second language. However, it is important that the two summaries are on the same line.
  • It should be written in a structured summary style (background, aim, method, findings, conclusion).
  • At least 3 and at most 5 keywords should be written.
  • Abstract and keywords should be in 10 font size and single line spacing.

Text

  • Starting from the introduction part, the text should be written justified, with 12 points, Times New Roman type, and 1.15 line spacing.
  • Paragraph spacing should be 6pt before and after, and the carriage return indent should be 0.5 cm from the left.
  • Why the study was written, its importance, contribution, and main purpose should be expressed.
  • While writing the introduction, the CARS model suggested by Swales (2014) can preferably be taken into account. This approach recommends considering the introduction in three stages. Accordingly, first of all, a report should be made in the form of establishing a territory based on what is known, establishing a niche based on what is unknown, and expressing the research question (occupying a niche) by explaining why filling this gap is important (e.g. Swales, 2014).

Title Layout

  • First level headings are centered, bold, the first letters of the words are capitalized, and the rest are written in lowercase. The text continues from the new paragraph.
  • Second level headings are written left-aligned, bold, the first letters of the words are capitalized, the rest are written in lowercase. The text continues from the new paragraph.
  • Third level headings are written left-aligned, bold, italic, the first letters of the words are capitalized, the rest are lowercase. The text continues from the new paragraph.
  • Fourth level headings should be left-aligned, indented (0.5 cm), bold, the first letters of the words should be capitalized, and the rest should be lowercase. A period (.) is placed at the end of the title. The text continues on the same line.
  • Fifth level headings should be left-aligned, indented (0.5 cm), bold, italic, the first letters of the words should be capitalized, the rest should be lowercase. A period (.) is placed at the end of the title. The text continues on the same line.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should not be uploaded as visual files; they should be prepared in a Word file.
  • All headings, contents, and notes of tables and figures should be in 10-point font and single-line spacing.
  • Table and figure contents should be set to 0pt before and after.
  • Titles should be placed above the tables and figures.
  • Vertical borders and internal horizontal borders should not be used in table displays.
  • References should be given with in-text citations under the table or figure.
  • The meaning of each abbreviation or symbol used in tables and figures should be explained with notes at the bottom. These notes should be reported below the table as general notes, specific notes, and probability notes, respectively.

In-Text Citations

In-text citations should be made in two types: parenthetical citation and narrative citation.

Example parenthetical citation: (Yılmaz & Kaya, 2023)

Example narrative citation: Yılmaz and Kaya (2023)

Some details that should be taken into consideration when displaying in-text citations according to APA's current rules are presented below.

  • For studies with three or more authors, the abbreviation ‘et al.’ should be used, including the first citation.
  • Alphabetical order should be used when making multiple in-text citations.

(Ada, 2019; Derin, 2007; Şahin, 2009).

  • Only author and year information should be given, no page information should be given.

(Ada, 2019).

  • If there is a direct quote from a text, the relevant part should be enclosed in quotation marks, and the page number should be shown along with the author and year information.

“……..” (Ada, 2019, p. 14).

  • The ampersand symbol '&' should be used instead of the conjunction 'and' (except for narrative reference).

(Ada & Derin, 2019).

Ada and Derin (2019)

  • Literal notations should be included for different works of the same author published in the same year.

(Ada, 2019a; Ada, 2019b).

  • When making in-text citations for authors with the same surname, the initials of the relevant authors' names should be added.

(J. M. Taylor & Neimeyer, 2015; T. Taylor, 2014).

  • Non-historical works should be stated as n.d.

(Turkish Language Association, n.d.).

  • in in-text references. Suffixes such as should not be included.

Sidney C. Smith, Jr → (Smith, 2005).

  • When giving in-text references to different information, parentheses should not be used within parentheses, and they should be displayed side by side, separated by semicolons.

(e.g., falsely balanced news coverage; Koehler, 2016).

Reference

  • All references cited in the article should be added to the bibliography.
  • Only works cited in the text should be added to the bibliography.
  • The bibliography title should be centered, with the first letters capitalized and bold. Starting from the next line, the studies should be listed alphabetically according to surname-year.
  • In the bibliography, the bottom line of each work should start with a 0.5 cm indent from the left.
  • According to APA 7 rules, the latest version of the American Psychological Association publication guide, publisher location information is no longer provided in the display of book-type works, and digital object identifier (DOI) numbers are presented as clickable links in a uniform source addressing (URL) format. For detailed information, you can refer to the American Psychological Association website (American Psychological Association, n.d.).
